Daniel Jeavons on Australia Day
Fun for girls and boys
Scouting has thrived for more than 100 years. There are 28 million scouts in 160 countries. Byford Scouts was first registered in 1937.
Groups meet at their hall at the base of the Darling Range. The huge facility is set in bushland on a site perfect for barbecues and camps.
Each group meets on a different night and board meetings are held each month.
Parental involvement is expected to ensure the well-run group operates at the highest level.
Be Prepared
Scouting is about teaching children to be prepared for the challenges life will throw at them, while fostering an understanding of self and community responsibility.
